I see Dollars continued

I said Good bye 10 hello 11.

goodbye 10 hello 11.

and so the naughty little black dress, had her time.

Patricia Filed dollar dress

It was on sale the last time I was in NEw York, staying on The Bowery. I had no intentions of ever wearing it, like many of the things I buy. But I had every intention of owning it.

I knew that the
"see through, black, stripper dress with the sequined dollar signs had to be mine."

"Do you ever see something, and think to yourself, that this "is for me". That very thing I am looking at, was put there for me. There is one left and it is meant to be mine."

I think that and I sometimes feel the same with people.

I know instinctively if a person is for me or not.

Now this does not mean, I dont go against the grain, and go for the ones I know my gut says steeer clear of..

Either way, thats another blog post. Perhaps another in appropriate dress for now. It is New Year's eve 2011. And this dress was due a very small debut. The View. pulliono's Pizzeria. So busy i still havent eaten there.

unspoilt snow

No wee
no pollution
No foot prints

Just fallen
even
Covered
Beautiful

To tread where snow has fallen
and is falling
Covering traces of foot steps once been

Locked out on the roof...
In the cold
Shut out
its beautiful
i wont care if you dont let me back in.
I am happy

i like it out here in the dark

Back on Macon

My family so kindly came to visit me in New York, over Spring break.

April 8th, was my brothers 16th birthday and later in the month my 26th. (I was told it's my golden Birhtday, as I turn 26 on the 26th.)

My parents do not travel often, my mom was never a huge sun fan, preferring to holiday in England! English summers as a kid were great. A little bit of Lands End. Cornish Pasties. Buckets and spades. Weymouth, Devon, Breen. If there is a beach in England, we have holiday'd there. All packed into the car. I did love those childhood holiday's. We have many a hilarious photo of me, with a whinge face on as some entertainer tries to encourage me to sing, dance or do some other kind of thing other children were more than happy to do.

So my mom booked a ten day jaunt to New York. After I talked them into it, instead of Egypt. Two weeks later they are still here. She said she loved New York, whilst it was a holiday, but now she is a prisoner. As a result of the volcano in Iceland. Ash Victims, is what the news is calling all the vacationers... stuck on their holidays. I'm some sort of perma vacationist, so I see no problem. But I can see where my mother's distress is coming from. She has vowed to never leave England again.Or at least Europe. It's looking like they may be here to celebrate my Birthday also.

We have now moved into our second Holiday apartment. Luckily for us there was a room going in the Macon Street apt, we had stayed in last summer. it is my dream home. It is seriously beautiful.

The saga goes on. They are re-booked on flights on the 21st... if those flights go ahead.. is still unknown. English airports are still closed.

Until then Hello Brooklyn.

My sister called this her bonus holiday. My mother remarked, it's not a bonus when it's costing you. Never the less, we still all have our health. My brother is missing his senior prom. But I reminded him he is making part of history. Not only did he turn sweet 16 in the Big apple. But he is living a part of a huge news event affecting people across the globe. He does not care, he wants to be there for his prom.

Woof

Walked down by the water, in williamsburg, Brooklyn. The park was just about to shut. But the guy let us in. Stodd looking at the water. This bench made us giggle, with its extra bit on the side.

a day in Manhattan

I have been in NY for the past three months now. I enjoyed taking photographs on my friends Nickon D80. Until one day during fashion week, I was sat on a really tall seat, in Bryant park, with the camera on my lap. I needed the loo. A lady told me where there was a bathroom. I stood up pretty quick and excited. The camera and it's not so cheap lense went crashing to the ground. I cried. Because it wasn't my camera and I couldn't believe I had been so careless with it, after months of being so careful.
These are a selection of the last few photos I took...before it was all over.

The two girls second from last picture, are sisters from Brazil. They have their own fashion label, and were showing at fashion week in the tents. I saw them crossing the street to go to Cafe Habana while I was stood outside waiting to be seated to get some real good corn on the cob...

The guy in the Phoenix shirt was reading news papers he found in the bin. The guy in the orange shirt had just put his news paper in the bin. I do love me some recycling.
The world should share more.

The sisters ( i have to find the card they gave me to check out their line) were telling me they love fashion but hate spending money on clothes. Girls after my own heart. I love shopping picking stuff up, and one by one putting it all back down, because frankly I dont need it. Now I only buy something if I love it. If its really special.

My new rule since being here, is jewellery and lingerie. You cant have too much, and it cant be too expensive. My favourite gifts from me to me.

America : A beautiful Love affair

This was a photo of the wall next to our table in this little cafe in Manhattan. There were photos on the walls of all of the celebrities who had eaten there. It actualy looked kind of grotty but it had so called good honest prices.

Flea Market Day

I found this drawing of my mom in a flea market in Manhattan....it was so weird. Thats her. I dont know who drew it, or how it got there.
It was actually my dad's fifty-something birthday (early Sep) when I spotted it, so it would have made a perfect gift, but I didn't buy it or even check how much it was. I showed the photos to my younger sister she thought it was hillarious (due to the shocking likeness) and said I hope you fucking bought it. Thats amazing.. I'm going to go back to see if i can find it

Chai Latte...always hits the spot

and then the rain came down...and it was time to find some place warm to play
